HOW DO I WASH MY SNEAKERS?
How do I wash my sneakers?
How do I wash my sneakers? Clean them with a dry brush. Before washing your sneakers, you should remove large pieces of dirt and grime. To do this, use an old toothbrush or a dry scrub brush. Rub the dry brush over the problem areas to remove excess dirt and grime.
-
Mix warm water with laundry detergent. Fill the sink with warm (not hot) water. Then, add a little laundry detergent.
-
Remove the insoles and laces. You'll need to clean them separately, so remove them from the shoe and set them aside.
-
Wet a sponge with clean water to remove the soap. Once you've removed the stains, soak a second sponge or cloth in warm, soap-free water. Scrub the shoe to remove excess soap.
-
Let your shoes air dry. Don't put them in the dryer. Leave them outside at room temperature to dry naturally.

Part 2
Make sneakers smell better
-
Always wear socks. If you don't, sweat will accumulate in your shoes. Bacteria will grow in the moisture and cause a very unpleasant odor that will be difficult to remove.
-
Apply a little foot powder to your shoes. You may notice that sweat seeps through your socks and dampens your shoes. Sprinkle a little talcum powder on the insoles before putting them on to absorb some of the moisture and prevent odor from permeating your shoes.
-
Clean the insoles. If your shoes already have a bad smell, you can clean the insoles to remove it. Remove the insoles and follow the steps above. Clean them with a sponge dampened with water and detergent, rinse them with a second damp sponge to remove the soap, and then let them air dry.
Part 3
Clean the laces
-
Remove the laces from the shoe. The laces may require more rigorous cleaning than the shoe itself, so you should remove and clean them separately.
-
Apply laundry detergent beforehand. To remove tough stains, you can spray a little detergent on them. Rub the detergent in with your fingers before applying warm water.
-
Wash the laces in a delicates bag. You can wash them in the washing machine, but if you leave them loose, they'll get caught in other clothes. Place them in a delicates bag and wash them on a normal cycle.

Tips
- Touch up faded or old sneakers with a little shoe polish. You can also use a white art eraser on white spots.
Warnings
- Never wash sneakers in the washing machine or dry them in the dryer, as this could damage them or cause them to shrink. Furthermore, they will lose much of their anatomical characteristics.
